Episode 122

Steel City Committee

Gord Carruth joins us for today's episode. Carruth is a Canadian playwright, composer, author, and retired principal at Sir Allan MacNab and Westdale in our hometown of Hamilton, Ontario. Together with fellow retired educator, author, and playwright Bob Knuckle, Carruth penned "I Am Not a Legend," a highly successful drama about the life of football coach Vince Lombardi. His work has won the Canadian ACTRA award for best dramatic writing, the Critics' Commendation at the Edinburgh Festival, and many other stages and television awards. We connected with Gord while he was enjoying Florida to speak about his time in Hamilton, the early beginnings of writing musicals, and the journey that's dubbed him one of the country's most prolific writers of Canadian political /historical musicals.
